Weaver B6 Scope on a 32-20 #2 RRB rifle

I’m in my late 70’s and the eye just aren’t what they use to be.  I have a #2 RRB that I would like to mount a period looking scope on. Being retired I can’t afford a MVA scope though I really would like to.  However, I was thinking that an older style 3/4 inch scope like the Weaver B6 would look right on the #2 RRB. I know this scope was primarily for a .22 rifle but would it hold up with the recoil of the 32-20 cartridge?  Thanks for your feedback.

I don't think that there would be a problem with it holding up, with a 32/20.

I have a Low Wall in .32-20 that had a Weaver B6 on it for many years.  It worked OK, but the optics were not great.  I kept the scope mount, but replaced the scope with a Lyman Alaskan, 7/8" tube.  A huge improvement!  Especially with my old eyes.  You just need longer screws holding the scope to the mount.

I would move on up to a 1" scope so you can have a more remarkable increase in your sighting.  I recently put a Weaver K4 on an old Ballard, it has great eye relief (which some old actions need depending on the mount method), is bright and sharp. Or an Alaskan 7/8" scope.  But those the mounts can be expensive.

The little 3/4" scopes in comparison are dark and hard to use.  I have several.  Get a K3 or K4 or one of the other early fixed power scopes from Noske, Kollmorgan, Redfield (baby 4x), etc.  You'll be much happier than trying to squint through a tiny 3/4 scope.

If you have a single shot that already has a mount for a 3/4" scope, you can switch to a 7/8" tube by just replacing the screws that clamp the scope to the mount with longer screws.
