58 CF rolling block

I just picked up an early rolling block conversion in 58 CF yesterday at auction.  Haven't received it yet, but I had a question about an "XX" stamp on the top of the receiver.  Any insights?

Curious as to what 58 cal. center fire you may have in the Roller.
The only one I can think of would be maybe the .577 Snider.

That is an odd marking. I thought all the .58's were rimfire. on the positive side if it is a .577 Snyder you can get brass from track of the wolf and that might work for a converted to centerfire .58 as well. XX could mean either 20th regiment or taken out of service, but most unit markings are on the side or comb of the buttstock. It's a definite mystery.

Apparently they are either .58 Roberts or .58 Musket, just gotta measure the chamber length.

Nice, are the case dimensions close enough to use the Snyder brass?
