There are indeed two Americas. Simply put, it is not the haves and have nots. The two Americans are in reality divided into those who do and those who don't.

Had a recent episode with a local trophy shop and a 107 year old silver cup! The cup came with a rifle I purchased, and the original owner of the rifle and cup had never had his name engraved on the cup. I decided to have a local trophy shop engrave his name, and printed out exactly what I wanted on the cup.
Got a call a week later to say it was done and "it came out perfect"! I got to the shop and the engraving was flawless, except he'd engraved a "C. G." when the initials were "L.G."!!! Of course I was not a happy camper to destroy a 107 year old shooting trophy from the Denver Rifle Club!
The guy said, "No problem, I have a jeweler buddy who can fill that in and I'll re-engrave it."
Got a call a couple weeks later, and expected to be disappointed, but they had filled it in perfectly, and the "C." was replaced with the correct "L." and no sign of the mistake.
I did ask the guy how one could ever mistake a C for an L when an L is a pretty hard 90 degree turn? He just said it looked like a C to him. Not sure what he was smoking.

Potentially a long uncomfortable story but the name on my Birth Certificate was spelled wrong. When I came of age and spent several years trying to correct this unsuccessfully I gave up. I actually had to legally have my name changed.
