Spray lube for RF bullets?

I have quite a lot of .22 RF where the lube is either dried or evaporated and the lead is a bit corroded.  I've been dipping them into melted Darr lube, wiping off the excess, and running them up into a Neal Waltz bump-up die.  Removing the excess is getting to be more work than saving old ammo is worth so I'm wondering if there is anything I can buy that I can spray on or dip the bullets into, something that goes on thin, will dry and not gum up the die.

I tried the Lee liquid die but it really jams up the die quickly.

Thanks

I just played around with this this weekend. I had a bottle of rooster jacket from buffalo arms that was sent by mistake. I dipped some super X our of the 70's and got slightly better results than the straight ammo. I'll still experiment to see if it was a fluke or not.

I was reading a thread on here this morning about someone breech seating 22 and he was wiping the ammo with his fingers and Javelina, just enough to coat the bullet, not to fill the grooves. I may try that out too

The problem I have with cast bullet lubes like Lee and the wax based stuff is that the coating on the bullet winds up really thick.

How thin is the Rooster Jacket stuff?  if I dip bullets in it and set them nose down to drain, how thick does the remaining coating on the bullet turn out?

Thanks

Any of the spray or roll on case lubes would probably work for the bump up. Not sure about as a bullet lube for shooting.

I don't have the Lee stuff to compare it to, but it wasn't noticable on the bullet. It is also meant for paper patch lube, so it's not too thick. I'll lube a couple today and take before and after measurements and let you know

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

I've used Lee liquid alox and thin it down to make it work better. Just cut down a paper cup and pour the Lee alox in, then some mineral spirits to make it watery. A folded paper towel beside to touch the tip of the bullets and that removes any excess.

I just measured the bullets I lubed this morning, they are between .222 & .223

I don’t know if it is still available, but Thompson Center Bore Butter worked better than that 8 or 10 lubes that I experimented with a few years back.
