To sight in my 22 for 200 yards I shoot at 25 yards.  When it hits 7 inches high at 25 it will usually hit a schuetzen target at 200 yards.

I do shoot at Ben Avery. I'll be there in March for the International BPCR Long Range Championship. We start with a .22 /200 yard Match. Then shoot 500-600-800-900 and 1000yards with our BPCR's over sticks. We shoot about 300 rounds over a week. THREE DAYS AT 1000 YARDS/ 30 plus rounds a day.
Last year the Ballard I was shooting won the .22 Match. It belongs to a friend who so graciously let me shoot it. It is with out a doubt the most accurate rifle I've ever shot. Great fun, but I only make it down once a year. Enjoy!

lMy strategy is a little different. I sight in at 50 yards. With 1/8 minute clicks I raise the sight 192 clicks. Aiming at the 50 yard dot it shoulld shoot about 13 1/2 inches high at 50 yards. Wayne

Since we are on the subject. I know 22 ammo can be a crap shoot (pun intened), but what have you guys found to work well for 200 yard shooting? Standard velocity, high velocity, sub sonic? And yes, I know there are variables that come into play.

I've had really good luck with subsonic. Black box eley has worked the best for me. Wayne

Craig, I'm still shooting the 2007 Eley Club Extra the Redwood Gun Club guys bought in 2008.  It was really Tenex, a production overrun. Shot a 246-6C a couple of weeks ago, in that calm period right after the first rains of winter.

Lots better than the expensive Lapua stuff a lot of us bought when California banned mail-order purchases.

I bought the first batch of that Norma Match stuff in the white boxes.  Some of that would not go 200 yards.

We are still shooting on Tuesdays, 11:00 to about 14:30.  We meet at the gate, 10:30.  Please join us.

Late ... I don't remember the numbers... *maybe* written down somewhere. I just remember none of the various rifles were the same even when I compensated for the *ACTUAL* MOA of the sights and sight radius involved.

Worse, were the 2 Leupold 6.5-20's that had absolutely *NO* correlation between each other ... OR ... the target ...

A fun match at Tommy Mason's this summer:  25 shots BR at 200 yards with .22RF, no sighters.  Sight in on a rock at the berm and then go for it.
I used Federal Auto Match bulk ammo @ $23 a box of 325 rounds...

Regards,
Joe

Joe,
Remind me, was that the part where one of the shooters put a Loonie in the pot? Or was this the time you took all our shekels?
Still good shooting at 200.

Ha! I had forgotten that Greg!  Wayne Tellier did put a Loonie in, but then he won it right back.  Grin   I came in second.

Joe
