32 ideal. Bullet size

I bought a Stevens 44 1/2 32 ideal at the Etna green match last week it has a very good bore with an 18” twist. Anyone have an idea how heavy or how long a bullet would work?  I would like to use 4227 powder if anyone has a good starting load
Thanks Dale

The factory load according to the Stevens catalogs, was a .323 diameter 150 grain bullet with 25 grains of black powder. It's one of the few calibers that I don't have in a Stevens rifle,so I can't help with a smokeless load.

For a traditional flat nosed bullet, you should be able to shoot one that is .94 long.

For a custom bullet, say made by Accurate with a .18 meplat, you could do a .99 long bullet and a 1.01 long bullet with a .08 meplat, like Brooks might be able to do.

Here is a Smith mold that I have, that you could send to Brooks to make, enlarged to .324 and add .04 to the base band and use a .08 meplat.
