Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

Once again, nearly fooled by the wrong type of "No. 1".

Not really strange but I kind of like it. 30-40 Krag on a modified action. I like both types of #1's, Ruger and Remington.

This is a hybrid - a No. 3 action and everything else is No. 1 (i.e. a "No. 2")
It started life as a No. 3 in 223. I sent it and a 1S 7mm Mag barrel to Steve Durren, had the 7mm barrel lined to 32-20 and fitted to the No. 3 action after removal of the 223 barrel. Shoots pretty good. The wood is an extra set I had. I sold the rest of the No. 3 parts.

Several years ago I decided to change up one of my Ruger #1. I bought a barreled action in 25.06. Bought the stocks and touched up the checkering. I had Wyoming Armory do the color casing as that is one thing I don’t do! I rust blued the barrel added a three leaf express rear sight and a new front sight. Lastly I grafted a Ballard ball and spur to replace the Ruger lever and modified the catch latch to the Ballard lever. It’s fun shooting and definitely a little different!

Did you leave it in 26-06?
