Finally, a casting day! And a surprise.

Lack of rain and honey-dos allowed some long delayed casting today. I started with a couple of dual cavity moulds (I always alternate 2) to restock 175 grain 9.3s for my 9.3x57R (360) Husqvarna and some 125 grain 32s for my 32-20. Then I wanted to cast some Lyman 266469 HP GCs to try in the 6.5x57R Mauser Heeren. This left me to find another single cavity to go along with the Lyman. Rummaging around I came across a mould that I didn't recognize right away. It looked brand new and appeared to be a Mos cut in large blocks and looked like a 40 caliber. Then I remembered that over a year ago I had picked it up off the list from Sportslube as a 40 caliber unmarked mould. It arrived just a few days before the Colorado show and had gotten stashed and forgotten until now. That became the second mould to alternate with the HP and to figure out just what it was. It looked like a Mos and cast like one with beautiful bullets casting in 1 to 20 at .4095 1.3 inches in length and weighing 397 grains with the straight part of the nose ahead of the bands measuring .4015. Could be fun to shoot!

Don't you just love it when Christmas comes early? If you don't remember paying for it, then it's a gift, right?
