I had a Weaver T36 and also a Burris Signature 24X and a Bauch & Lomb 30X.
The Burris and Bauch & Lombe had better glass and worked better than the 36X which gets too hazy from the mirage.
24X scopes are actually much clearer when you have extensive mirage and even better than the 30X scope.
Also the Burris  and Bausch & Lombe lens were considerabley sharper images than the Weaver when there was no mirage.
Clarity of your shooting image is much more important than magnifying it.
The 1/10 MOA custom microdot in my Burris Scope can find 14 different target locations across a ISSA bullseye without magnifying it to 36X.
Accuracy is improved by having a scope with a finer dot or crosshair since you are able to sight more precisely.

If this is an older steel tube El Paso Weaver it's worth keeping. They have some age on them and yes the glass can delam and cloud some but I believe a T36 is worth sending to Optical Services in Santa Teresa, NM. This is the late Bill Ackerman's shop ( the Weaver guru/engineer ) and now run by his daughter Cheryl.  They can blue print that scope and make it like new or boost if you want. First class work, fairly priced and highly respected

+1 for above, and Cheryl also installs dots, as many as and where you would like and size.

Advantage the Weaver T scopes have is precise repeatable adjustments, knobs easy to read with positive clicks. My opinion mechanically better than new internal adjustment scopes.

They are old and glass may not be as good as more modern scopes. Some competition mechanical repeatability is more important than resolution. 2nd the Ackerman advice too. They have added added dots cleaned and serviced several Weaver T’s for me.

Agree with the other guys 36 is too much power in many conditions. Hot and hazy, low light, less power is better

I’ve used Weaver scopes for 25 years, IMO tracking is much more important than clarity and no scope “that I’ve tested” tracts better than the Weaver. If your shooting targets go with Weaver, if you’re going birdwatching maybe get something with more clarity. Ledballl

It may have been leadball that recomended Weaver T’s to me many years ago.

Another factor is Parallax adjustment. A  T scope like a Unertl or Lyman external adjustment has micrometer type markings outside the objective lens barrel. Fine thread many turns to set perfect Parallax adjustment.

I used several Leopold 6.5 x20’s on modern silhouette rifles . Like many new style target scopes parallax adjustment was about a half turn. Marks in yards. Yardage never matched actual correct setting for yardage. Parallax off can cause point of impact variations

1/4 minute on the three I have owned. Never had a 36 so can’t say on it

The T36 Weaver has 1/8 minute clicks, the real early ones had no locking ring on the front focing bell. The problems I had with the Leupold 36 other than the poor tracking was , it wouldn’t adjust down to 50 yards , no lens caps, 1/4 minute clicks and quite pricey.  Back in the day you could buy a T36 for 280 dollars if you bought 3 — the Leupold 36 was 100 or so dollars more.
