	On the cover of the latest SSRJ is a photo of AW Peterson holding a Winchester HW with a straight grip shotgun buttstock. Does anyone know the actual details of this rifle (chambering etc.)? It appears to have a round barrel (No.2?), a standard trigger and a Lyman No. 15 tang sight. I can't make out the front sight. I really like the look of this rifle & plan to make up a copy of it so any details would be a great help. Thanks. Spud

	It reminds Me of a rifle Goergen had a few years ago. That rifle was a 38/72.

	- It has a full round barrel. - shotgun buttstock - looks like a plain trigger - nice case-colored action! - It's hard to make out the front sight ... is it a tall blade or a narrow globe sight? The rear sight is a Lyman No. 15 wind-gauge tang sight. This model tang sight first appeared int he Lyman 1889 catalog.

	yes, the stems were fixed and did not fold down.

	There is an A.W. Peterson Gun Shop in Tavares Florida it may be under Mount Dora Fl. They have a small museum section about Mr. Peterson.

AW Peterson was one of the really great Denver gunsmiths! He and Schoyen both worked at Carlos Gove's Denver Armory until Gove retired and sold the shop to Schoyen. Then Peterson went to work with Schoyen as a partner. Both were Swedish immigrants that were already very capable gunsmiths when Gove hired them, and seems they got along well, although quite different personalities. I have a lot of affection for the work both Schoyen and Peterson accomplished during their lives as custom gun makers. A lot of talent between the two.

	If memory serves me, Peterson came to the US (Chicago) as a watchmaker.

	Not sure how far apart Schoyen and Peterson times were when they immigrated to the US, but both first landed in Chicago, and then migrated out West to Denver. I don't have dates, but I believe John Dutcher said Schoyen arrived in Chicago around 1852 if I recall right? Gove opened his shop in Denver in 1860, so when Schoyen arrived in Denver both were fairly new to Denver. Not sure when AW Peterson arrived in either place?
