Dumb luck (bad) or Just Plain Dumb

At the Spokane match at Tommy Mason's place, Joe and I planned to shoot some muzzle loaders.  I brought my CVA kit that I had made as a teenager and he brought  one of his real nice rifles.  We were shooting at 50 yds and i gave up before ever hitting the target.  After our side shoot was over, I noticed that my wind flag that was at about 60 yards had fallen over.  Sure enough one of us had put a bullet into one of the legs.  I bent it back and it is fine.  Fast forward to this morning.  I have a piece of cardboard on a 5' stick that I have been clamping to my 2'x3' target frame that fits in the bases at 200 yds.  that secondary target has a large bull for iron sights.  When I was clamping it this morning, I thought to myself that maybe I should not have the end of the clamp under the target even though it would be over a foot below the paper.  I had one WTF moment where I fired a round when not on target.  A while later, I noticed my iron sightly target was leaning left.  I thought maybe the clamp just slipped off.  NOPE.  Just my dumb luck

Aim for the clamp Jack! Maybe you'll hit a bullseye!

Nice shot Jack, I bet it would take you a handfull of shots before you could hit that again!

Reminds me of my non-shooter BIL that I was aiding at Quigley.  When it came to the Buffalo during the match, he shot a 1.  He hit the anatomically correct bull right in his private parts.  He spent the rest of the day bragging about that shot.  He said "anyone can hit the Buffalo, I'll bet you can't hit him where I did with 10 tries, probably not with 100".

That'll buff out. Dare I ask if it's now a 6" Jorgensen clamp instead of a 12"?

I pounded out the dent and straighten it out fairly well. Works fine.

I've got a arrow t50 stapler that has a dent in the tip end of the handle from when I was teaching my oldest daughter to shoot. We'd hung up the target and I tossed the stapler on the ground away from the targets and we started her next lesson. She did excellent and then switched to her steel target. When we went to clean up the targets I saw that the stapler was damaged l guess one of the rounds from the steel was deflected into the handle. It's still usable and in my range kit a reminder of when my girls were little and still at home.

I once accidentally put a bullet hole in an x-ring.

I had a base model Shootong Chrony, emphasis on the had. The first ‘accident’ took out two of the aluminum sky screen holders but the final nail in its coffin came when the voice in my head said to lower it but I lowered my shot instead and took out the screen. Turns out it was fortuitous as I ended up with a Garmin a few months later.
