Whitney Phoenix Rifle(s)...and targets..

Howdy folks.
I have 5 Whitney Phoenix rifles that started life as 12g. shotguns, all purchased at modest price from an internet auction site.  All barrels started as blanks purchased from CPA, all Shilen.  I have a .45-70, 38-55, 32-40, 32-20 and a 25-20.
Below is the .32-40, Baldwin sights front and rear.
As much as I like looking at rifles...I'm much more interested in what they can do at the range; maybe you are too!  If so, take a look.  I may post a couple other ones.
Our range has a maximum of 100yds. I'd love to stretch a few of these out a bit.
Blessings on ya's!

I've always like the Phoenix Rifles but, never could find one to buy.

That's pretty good shooting for fixed ammo. What does the 18° indicate?

The 18 is the air temperature. (Fahrenheit) A bit brisk...

I'm just outside of Harrisburg, Pa., just South of the Susquehanna by a few miles.

I have a couple of these in the line-up, both originally 12g.  I have a couple of extractors I started but haven't finished (goes along with the rest of the rifles) what did you do for the extractors?  I also have a couple of Rodney's castings in this design, one of course will be in a 22rf...

My Phoenix was rebarreled to 40-60 Maynard. The barrel has a slower twist and Dan Theodore (may he RIP) suggested the Saeco 460 (370 grain bullet). The first BPCR match I shot with it got me a 30 so I was happy! The sight was by GT.

Nice rifle oneatatime!
GT, I mill the extractor from air hardened stock.  All are at the six position.  I have a Phoenix carbine in .44-40 and a very heavy/long barrelled 45-60 ("J.H. Johnson, Pittsburgh Pa.") that have the tab extractor, which is a better design...I've been tempted to copy that design on these shotgun receivers, but four of the five have the "bump" on the right side to support the original extractor and I"d have to mill that off...
I have a  mix of models; some have sharp corners where the top tang meets the rear of the receiver and others are rounded on that inside corner.  I have a very early action that has no extractor bump on the right side, but it does have the slot cut under the barrel for the extractor.

This is the .32-20.  Usually the butt stocks are in decent enough shape that I just use the original and make a new forend to match.  This one came without a buttstock.  I had some flame maple left over from a banjo build so I used that for front and back.
