Good day all:
Looking for load data for use in a C Sharps 1875 in 45-70 with the above mentioned RCBS bullet.  This will be a hunting loading.  I am interested in smokeless and BP options.  Thanks for your assistance.  Have a great day!

If you haven't already, get a copy of Lyman's Cast Bullet Handbook or their Reloading Handbook. Lot's of load data for the 45-70 in both.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

What sort of range will your shots usually be? A 300 gr. .45-70 will bring down deer great at 1300-1400 fps if you want a mild load that wont be an issue of trajectory arc at 100 yds. or so. But if you plan for longer shots, or bigger game, then you'll want to push that 300 gr. bullet a bit faster.

A bit late, you should look at the GMDR lever gun data website, quite a bit of load data for lighter loads in the 45-70, mostly with pistol and shotgun type powders. My most accurate loads of 300 - 335 grain bullets in 45-70 at 100 yards have been at the top of their load data or just above (using bluedot, hs-6, unique).
