Trying to identify my original.
Would post pics but so new here, not sure how to upload picz yet.
Hopefully can get smarter on these older pieces.
Welcome ALL recommendations from the group knowledge.
Never to old to learn.
Just meed to figure out when to remove foot from mouth!

Well you certainly came to the barn with plenty of horses but this is not your typical firearms forum.   First of all, you're not likely to find a friendlier tribe for all from neophyte to scientific inquisitive. But even more this forum is a collective of so many levels of experience and knowledge you're always smart to think twice before asking or answering. So buckle up my new friend and take a ride to ' I didn't know that ' land.

Hi Hawk,  when you post you will see  "Attachments" tab  on the lower left, next to that  a "Browse" button.  Click on the Browse button and find the photo  on your device that you want posted.  For more photos, click the Attachments button again and it gives you another Browse button.   The photos have to be less that 500KB, so you may have to resize them using  whatever app you use to look at photos.   A bit of a pain but keeps the posts easier to view.  Hope that helps,

What caliber is your Borchardt? Does it have added wood side panels?

There are a lot of what is called "enablers" here. The reason I say that is they have enabled myself and a lot of others to realize some great purchases and or builds. There is a LOT of experience here that involves building these fine old pieces and also helping with the history of them as well. If there is anyone who can help you find out about your Borchardt these people can.

Appreciate the welcomes and the heads up on posting pics.
Will dig out the better camera and post some picz.

Been perusing the board and given there is a charge for joining
this board, sort of figured that the members here were probably
ten fold above in knowledge and five time more prone to providing
useful assistance than is generally found on the free forums.

I have found a couple of forums that are free and useful. A couple ....

I am n the process of building my library. I have Frank Seller's book.
Have volumes I, II, III and IV of the Paxton, Marcot Sharps Rifle volumes.
Flayderman's Guide, Blue Book of American Firearms.
Any suggestions from the group as to any other books I should procure would
be most appreciated.

Charge for joining the forum?  That is news to me.  You can join the ASSRA which has its benefits, but it in not mandatory.

But the folks who join ASSRA ($$) contribute to the operation of the Forum. Kind of like this country, some contribute and some ride for free.

I would pay to access the forum if it meant keeping it active.   The membership is a bargain I just for the journal.  The only problem with the forum is that the buy and sell section seems to drain my bank account.

When he gets his Journal and sees all the books for sale from the library he may find some more he needs.

To follow up on my first response I did not know you had to pay to log onto the forum. Of course membership does require dues of course.  However regardless of the cost of dues this forum is a broad collective of experts ranging from early historic single shot military and civilian hunting and target rifles, European Schuetzen and numerous collectors and shooters of almost every build in the U.S.. Plus detailed information on repairs, modifications and new builds.

The fact is that to  garner this much comprehensive information on such an extensive range of historic and target firearms would cost you serious funds in books, if you could find them.   But it's more or less all offered up on this site. So like gardening with patience and some well aimed specific questioning there isn't much that can't be answered and learned.Plus the as a member you'll receive the Single Shot Journal. This is not your typical club rag but a very high class magazine full of quality illustrations and historic photos well worth more than the dues.

And there is more ! Shipping and handling extra

At this time, there is no fee to use the Forum or FaceBook page. There is a membership fee to join ASSRA. That gives you a subscription to the Single Shot Rifle Journal and the right to shoot in sanctioned matches and have you record targets recognized as ASSRA records .   (Visitors can shoot at a match for the joy of the experience)

One does have to register to participate in both the Forum and FB by answering a simple question and not obviously being a spammer or a bot. You can look (or lurk) for free .

Hope that helps
