It's like the  Euro 38/55. I recently bought a J. P. Sauer Cape gun, The Barrels were supposed to be 9.3 x72 and 20 gauge, turned out to be 43 mauser x 16 gauge.

And the brass is used to make many shorter cartridges in the 360 family (based on the popular British 360 2 1/4 case). The long version of the name would be 9.3x72R (360).
Scharfe, I once had a beautiful Cape in 9.3x72R/20 gauge. I should have kept it. I still have a hammer Cape in 43 Mauser/16 gauge;-)

I saw the Sauer in an auction. It had 2 16 gauge bbls. Then I saw the set trigger. Hmmm, to bad the double rifle or cape bbls got seperated and lost. 250 lots away there were the Cape bbls. The bbls would not fit, maybe why they were seperate ? I found a burr, peened it back and smoothed it out and wala a 2 bbl set.

9.3x72R is one of the most common rifle cartridges in prewar hammer drillings.   I've had at least 5 of them.  Typically combined with two 16ga shot shell barrels

I've only had 2 of them. The first cost me $75 and the second, had been stolen, the insurance company had paid off the owner, had been recovered, and then sold to me for $35 by an insurance friend;-) It has been a while.
