It has a .468" dovetail, like my old Remington rifles have. Appears to have a lot of elevation in the base to raise the crosshairs a bunch.

I think it is for turning a rolling block into an antiaircraft gun;-)

Do you think someone took a rear scope mount and installed a crosshair in it?
I don't know of any single shot rifles that had that size dovetail at the rear? My Rolling Block rifles have this size up front, as does my very early first year #7 Ballard.

yes I do. the up rights are blued and look nicer made then the cross hair holder and it's painted. I dont think started out as a sight. I looked around on ebay and dint find it what is the ebay listing
