Heavy bullet load for .38-55

Here’s a poll question for our .38-55 shooters, using 330-350- grain bullets, not lighter bullets.

My new Accurate mold
#38-330A, weighs about 345-grains. It was made with a tapered profile to fit my hew CPA that has a Bartlien 1:12 twist, 5-groove, 30” barrel. I’ve been doing breach seating with the CPA.

I have 5+ pounds of IMR 4227 that am limiting my “research” with.

So far 16.5 to 17.0-grains has been showing promise. Has anyone found an IMR 4227 load that does well with this bullet weight?

Thanks!

Tom

Some years ago, Ron Long gave me his successful loading data for a .38-55  Ballard (Cody) he had built for a customer when he worked for Ballard Rifle Co. It's a rifle I now own.
18.5 gr IMR 4227
330 gr grease groove bullet
breech seated
no wad
I have not used this load only because I already had a good load using SR 4759 that is quite accurate in that rifle.

There are indeed two Americas. Simply put, it is not the haves and have nots. The two Americans are in reality divided into those who do and those who don't.
