Pair of 1885's

Bought these from a friend after I asked for a package deal, and being that the 1885 is my favorite rifle, we made a deal. I just couldn't resist. Top is a Special Single Shot in 32-40. Has the Swiss cheekpiece, Swiss buttplate, XXX wood, no rear seat, etc. But someone added a small bubble level where a rear sight would have been. It is not 3/8" but way smaller. It was special ordered by someone who wanted a #4 octagon barrel ( normally they had a #3 half octagon barrel ) and Schuetzen Double set triggers. Goe's to show that you could get anything you wanted back in the day. Manu. date 1906. ( my Dad was born in the same year ) Second is a plain grade straight grip in 32-40. It also has a #4 octagon barrel, Double set's, Swiss buttplate, Midrange vernier and Windage globe sight, and no rear seat. Manu. date 1904. Both rifles factory letter as shown. Except the straight grip rifle, unfortunately, has had scope blocks added sometime in it's life. And they put them in the wrong place. To me, it's kinda strange to see such a plain grade stock with a Swiss buttplate and Schuetzen Double set's. And since it already has the blocks, I added a 10X Unertl. Life is good. Dale.

Congratulations on your new rifles Dale! They're both really nice rifles, but I'm sure the top one will be in my dreams tonight. It really is outstanding!

I'm not a complete idiot, some of my parts are missing.

Now, that's a fine score. Each of 'em is a prize, but together it's fabulous. You get the attaboy this time.
