What is this???

This little tool came with a Lyman STS I bought years ago.  I can't figure out what it does.  One leg is labeled 50 yds and the 100 yds.
Thanks
Phil

range adjustment feeler gauge. I had a similar one come to me with a tang sight. Never knew what rifle and caliber it had been used for.
The little tabs will probably be found to be a few thousandths different in thickness. You may not be able to use yours either, for the same reason mine was not helpful.

Not sure, but for my Maynard I have a piece machined to the length to set the rear sight to the proper height for 50 and 100 yards (i.e. one length for 50 the other for 100) that way when switching from 50 to 100 yards you just pull out the device and set the rear sight.
Specifically what yours is for I'm not sure but thought I'd throw it out there in case it helps.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

I believe you set your scope for a specific distance, and then that device was used to change it by 50 or 100 yds. Once you had the scope set for a certain distance to start. I believe it went inside the rear adjustment ring to do this, but not sure if it stayed there while shooting, or how that part worked?
