Just went to place an order and learned they are closing down. I’ve been real pleased with the product I’ve gotten from them. ☹️

I wonder where we’ve been sourcing our lead? I think the last US smelter shut down about two years ago.

Have also purchased bullets from these guy's. Now am using Bear Creek Supply. Alittle cheaper also.

I harvested all mine off job sites for many decades, so when I retired 15 years ago I'd have enough to last until I'm gone, and leave the rest to my heirs! A little short on tin, but I think enough for my own use. My heirs can buy their own tin.

I have two 5 gallon buckets of wheel weights and several big 30 lb ingots of unknonium lead.  And I have not cast a bullet in several years. A correction I hope to make in the next week our two.

Not overly concerned about specific alloy for the upcoming casting. WW should be fine.  WW works fine  for the bullets I cast for the Henry rifling and mostly shoot. My research suggest WW will be preferred in the Whitworth rifle I will be trying.

Now when I start on the 40/90 project alloy may be more critical.  But I may also start with store bought bullets from Buffalo arms for that project. PP also.

Montana Bullets have been around for a long time, not surprised they are closing down.  Owner probably retiring.

I researched this question when that lead smelter shut down. Their plans were to go into rerefining used lead. Don't know what transpired there. They were still selling new lead but you had to buy a couple hundred pounds at a time. Here's a nearly fool proof method to get good lead: Make the rounds of several junkyards and make friends with the guy that buys and sells metal every day. Offer to buy whatever lead that's stripped from a medical/X ray facility even if it's a hundred pounds or so. I got my last 200 pounds that way and I was happy. In addition, ask if they buy empty brass. If they do you might can work out a trade. I've done that too. It's essential you check for steel cases and unfired rounds. One last method if you live near the southern border-the Mexican smelters are still operating. There's nothing illegal about importing lead.
