Had anyone ever been able to pull apart an orginal 1870s-80s 43-45 caliber cartridge and make note of the grains size?

A while back I pulled apart an 1864 era .56-50 Spencer cartridge. I didnt measure with a micrometer, but the powder was similar to 2F, although crushed a little by compression. I reprimed the case and reloaded the original powder. Then took it to the range to chronograph it. Here is a video about it.

I have learned from pressure tests and the chronograph, that equivalent charges of Olde Eynsford 1 1/2F will yield pressures and velocities almost identical to Curtis and Harvey No. 6 powder used in English black powder express cartridges.

Cursing, I'd like to know how you did your pressure tests.
