Unertl parallax adjustment

I have a 24X Unertl. Shot it for +3-years at CBA matches. At our last match in 2024 we were doing 200-yards. I adjusted the scope and shot the match. Afterwards the lock ring for the front objective lens would not budge. I tried lots of ways to loosen it (I won't get into those details here). So I sent it to a repair place in Tulsa in Sept.

After it came back the retaining ring was loose and it appeared the fault had been corrected. However, I went to use it yesterday, the first time since coming back to me, and the target was blurry, no matter where the yardage values on the front unit was positioned. I had focused the crosshairs earlier so that wasn't the problem.

Before I send it back to Tulsa I thought I'd ask a question here...even though the parallax lock ring is secured, the front ring with the gold yardage values on it can still turn freely. Is this something that an idiot (me) could correct on my own or must be given to an expert to review?

Thanks in advance!

Tom

Just to make sure, you understand the unthreaded adjusting lens (middle part with lock screws) gets pushed back and forth by the front and rear threaded rings. Once parallax is found the side that was not pushing last is carefully tightened to lock the center lens ( like a jam nut). If you still have an issue, I would guess you have to send her back.

I learned the hard way while adjusting parallax that both rings need to be snugged up. I thought I could sneak up on things by leaving one loose to find the sweet spot sooner. I switched scopes thinking something was amiss, only to have the same issue with #2. Knowing both scopes had served well in the past, it finally dawned on me to try snugging both rings before taking a look down the tube. A lesson learned the hard way, my usual style, but the way that makes them stick.
