Bullet choice with Metford rifling, .45 cal?

I have a Martini sporting rifle in .500-.450 W-R Musket No.1 with Metford Rifling.
Similar to No. 2 Musket, but longer neck, shorter body. 

I achieved rather indifferent accuracy with BP loads and 405 grain hollow based grooved lubricated arsenal design bullets for 1873 Trapdoor, cast 1:20.   

Is there a particular bullet design that works consistently well with Metford Rifling? This is my first encounter.

Lots of them, but what's your rifling twist?  And which Metford rifling?  Segmental or earlier?

Also what is the major diameter of bore. You will probably find the minor diameter is .450, but major diameter might be closer .464 diameter.   

Winfer reports bullets for the cartridge were 450 grains.

.458 405 grain bullet not suited to the larger bore and slower twist.

Listen to Gert on this he knows more than I do.

110 grains of Olde Eynsford 1 1/2F compressed
Std Primer
310 grain .450 diameter bullet
then 2 wraps 11 to 16 lb paper
3/16" thick grease cookie

No need to measure anything - this will shoot.
At least it does in three that I know of.
