New book on Bullards, not Ballard rifles
Apr 21st, 2025 at 7:52pm
Print Post
Several years ago, Scott Jamison wrote his book on Bullards and then followed it with a revised edition. Chris Kau, an avid collector of these rifles, wanted to have a book of his collection with quality, color photos. If you want technical information on Bullards, consult Jamison's book. This book has simply better quality photos of the rifles, ammunition, and loading tools. Over eighty rifles are shown. 220 pages, 8 1/2x11, hardbound. The price is $100 plus $7 postage in the US. Order from Tom Rowe, POB 207, Sugar Grove, VA 24375 865 207 6026. Check or money order only. I am not set up for Credit cards

In Jamieson’s book Bullard Firearms, pg 328 there are pictures of what was thought to be the only Bullard from Westley-Richard’s that supposedly was an attempt by Bullard to get European exposure. Westley-Richard’s Serial #1724. .45 caliber. I had the gun, bought the book and in reading it I went, wait a minute, I have that gun. I do. It’s serial #1725.
I called Gene Weicht. He owned a funeral home.
Lady answered, I introduced myself and asked for Gene. “I’m sorry he is doing a service”. Ok.just ask him to call me when he get a chance. I gave gave her my name and number.
“Can I tell him what it’s about?”. Yes, about a Bullard.
“Hold on a minute “. A few seconds later, hi this is Gene”.
I guess if you’re dead you can wait. 😂

i knew gene very well.he was known as the bullard rifle guy and had a hat with  that on it and he would wear it to gun shows. i was priviledged to handle his collection for the family. gene had a way to turn any conversation to a bullard rifle. i miss my friend.  i was introduced to chris and he bought gene's collection. i am glad that these rifles are pictured and in color.  what an amazing rifle.    tony<><
