Has anyone noticed schutzen, more specifically 2f being anemic? I've had issues with it performing well in my cartridge rifles unless compressed significantly

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

I use 1.5fg Swiss and I've found it doesn't like much compression. Never used any Scheutzen.

When breech seating my 32-40 with the same tapered bullet I used with smokeless powder I wound up using a full case of uncompressed Schutzen 2f powder.  The reason was my bullet liked to be shot at 1450 fps.  A full case of Schutzen gave me that with good accuracy cleaning the barrel between shots.
I tried a full case of Swiss 1.5 powder and the velocity jumped to over 1600 fps and accuracy was bad.  I believe I tried Goex also but accuracy not acceptable.
My 2 cents worth is if you have a good smokless load try to duplicate the velocity with black is a good starting point.  If you are cleaning between shots I do not think the bullet knows the difference.  My opinion is worth what you paid for it. Charlie

When using shutzen in 4570, it's does great being compressed. But in a muzzloader, it resembles a subtle "fart", existing the barrel with a weak report and horrid accuracy.

I ordered a case of Schuetzen when obarry was elected so it's what, 20 years old?  The rest that I have was a case ordered 2-3 years before that.  I have about 3/4 case combined left in my magazine.   Both batches have been more than satisfactory in cartridge rifles or muzzleloaders.
