Tulsa Gun Show

The Tulsa gun show Spring 2025 is now in the history books.  It turned out to be another great show with more eye candy for the gun enthusiast than anyone could take in on a single day.  Guns from any historical period could be found at that show.  My interest is of course in single shot rifles of years long gone and there was a lot to look at.  I went with the intention of adding one more old single shot to my collection but wound up with 2 fine examples.  I finally decided on and purchased a Remington #2 and the example I got was in real good overall condition chambered in 32RF.  I’m not trying to create a museum collection so this example with be converted to center fire some time down the road.  The next rifle was another good example of a Winchester 1885 low wall 22LR that should make a wonderful shooter.  The S/N indicates it was make in 1909.  Wood and finish show that this rifle was used but appears to have been well taken care of.  I’m proud to have custody of these 2 fine examples and plan on shooting and enjoying both.  Thanks for looking.

Ballards may be weaker,

Both look to be well cared for, and not abused. I like guns like those that were used, but not neglected.

Those are both good survivor examples. Finding rifles that haven't been touched up is getting harder.

Just curious. As a reference for looking at high wall/low walls what was the cost of entry? Not the show.😂😂😂👋

A friend of mine bought a cherry #2 with a bad bore.  He had JES rebore it and chamber it in 38 special.  Curt Hardcastle converted it to center-fire.  What a fun little wand to handle and shoot.

If you look at Gun Broker that will give you a good ideal of what most high wall and low wall sell for.  Most will go for a $1000 to $2000 depending on condition.  If your patient and luck and do a lot of looking you may be luck enough to find a prize for less than a thousand. This one cost me less than $1000.

I have a little Uberti Baby Rolling Block, a copy of the #2 chambered in 357mag and it is a lot of fun to shoot.  I mostly shoot 38 Special ammo in this gun and is really accurate at 50 yards.

I thought about you on Saturday when I ran across a pretty nice little #7 rolling block.  It was way more money than I wanted to spend so I didn't even take a close look at it, just admired it in passing.  There were no bargain Ballard's to be had this trip.  I did see quite a few offered for sale and as a rule were pretty pricey. Had a good time and was happy to pick up the 2 rifles I got.

I hadn't gone for five years but decided on the trip this time.  The promise of fairly decent weather on the I-40 was a help.

The Wanenmacher Show was mind-boggling as usual.  You see stuff there that only shows up in books, or sometimes not even there.  It's so big that it's what the math people call a Statistical Universe.  There's 100% chance of coming across something interesting.  It may not be what you were looking for, or even who you imagined could be found, but it'll be there.

I thought the prices, in general, were somewhat on the optimistic side, but bargains could still be found by the discriminating hunter.  For me, it was mostly a chance to look at other peoples' cool Stuff.
