Actually, standard related to match ammo….anything from about 1040-just under 1200 fps.

An example of Ely Tenex available from Killough Shooting Sports.  1062-1077 fps

I haven’t lost all my marbles yet but there is definitely a hole in the bag somewhere.

At what age is Tenex probably not good anymore?  I have a bunch that is at least 20 years old.

I don't know about Tenex but my Federal match is still good after 20+ years.  Stored in a cool place so the was doesn't melt.

It depends if the lube is still good. I think it’s made of bees wax and tallow…

The lube on Tenex will get dried/grainy with age, less so if stored in optimal conditions but it'll still eventually dry out. It'll still shoot ok in such condition, without noticeable leading (at least in my experience, in my rifles) but not with superlative accuracy.

I recently inherited a bunch of Eley Benchrest (nigh identical to Tenex of yore, or so I'm told) from the 80's-early 90's that had been stored in atrocious conditions whose lube was a crying shame. Note: Maryland summers aren't kind to .22 ammo stored in a garage. It shot ok, which is to say on par with current mass produced SV run-of-the-mill stuff - certainly nowhere near its potential. All efforts to re-lube with various concoctions came to naught, with little improvement. I finally gave up and plinked most of it away, but kept a few boxes in hopes of stumbling onto a magical lube rejuvenating elixir.
