RCBS PRO-MELT slow pouring

I have an RCBS promelt that  just doesn't seem to be putting out the lead like it used to.   The orfice seems to have a plug of some lead colored metal.   I suspect this may be zinc because it won't melt.   I can drill it out easy enough, but how deep and what diameter.

The pour valve (plug) is 5/32.   Does anyone know what diameter the orfice was originally?   It looks like the opening is close to 5/32 at the bottom too.   Is the orfice tapered?

Anybody know or have any ideas??

Thanks,
George

Liberal application of a propane torch to the spout will clear out any zinc.  No need to drill.

Whatever it is/was the propane torch wouldn't take it out. I tried that first and it got hot enough that i was smelling "electrical" so quit before I wrecked something.   I decided to drill it.   Did a major clean up of the plunger and  where it goes into the spout as well.   Works great now.

My promelt rarely clogs up; but the Lyman does.  So I keep a heavy piece of wire to push up from the bottom to clean it out often.  Propane helps do it.

I use a drill that fits into the original hole to clean mine out.
