Ditto on the photo quality.  What did you use for a backdrop?   Details about your lighting - source(s) and color?

Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amatuers built the Ark, professionals built the Titanic.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

Hi Smoke,
I am Mikes shooting friend and the photographer for this image.
As a wildlife photographer for more years than I care to admit, I will occasionally have some fun with other subjects like this one for Mike.

I started out indoors with 4 speedlights, diffusers and reflectors only to fight the fine line between getting color and detail without inducing glare. Set up outside with just diffuers and reflectors and a black studio backgound for the next try. It took some effort to to reduce all the shadows without loosing detail in the lighter areas but did my best.

Post processing was done with a combination of Lightroom, Photoshop and Nik Color Effex Pro.

Thanks for the kind comments on my photography and hope this answers your questions.

It does answer my questions - mostly that only with little of your equipment, GIMP, and about 10% of your experience, I either need to take up a new hobby or just enjoy the excellent work of the more devoted photographers like yourself.

Maybe I'll start with some difusers Smiley

I did forget to state the equipment:
Nikon D850
Nikon 24-70 F2.8
On tripod with cable release

Last year I retired my photography business and closed my website, but I post often on the RimfireCentral "Random Picture Thread" and my Facebook page ... "Robert Rinsem"  .. if you want to see what I do when not out shooting with rifles
