R2 Lovell High Wall

Had the opportunity to take this nice old varmint rig built in Ohio by an unknown smith- allegedly by himself for his own collection per previous owner who had obtained rifle from estate of smith in the 1970s.  It does have a set trigger and Mann niedner firing pin.  Work is nicely done and it is chambered in the R2 Lovell caliber.  Previous owner sold a nice amount of reloads and brass with rifle so I was tickled.  The rifle shoots great and loves a nice load of 12.5 gr lil gun with 40 gr nosler.  I took her out to run the paces on a steel groundhog silhouette target at the farm today.  She did not disappoint!

Very nice rifle!

As an aside, we have a Stevens 417(?) that was rebarreled by MS Risley, Risley is the R in the R2 Lovell

Probably an obvious question, but have you looked under the fore end?  When in doubt…

Looking under the barrel and the butt plate is always an adventure. I just got a Niedner 22 Hornet on a High Wall. The Niedner # 604 or 904. The 6 or 9 is stamped sideways. My guess is 604 because it has the A. O. Niedner 2 line stamp.
