L. E. Wilson 32-40 case holders for case trimmer

Just realized that the multi-cartridge holder for 32-40 does not fit well enough to prevent wobbling when trimming to length. What do you 32-40 shooters use to trim to length??

Do your fired cases wobble? I’ve seen this with new, unfired cases and sometimes with full length sized cases but fire formed cases have always been a good fit given the correct case holder.

The wobble is at the case mouth end. I'd have to open up the case base end of the Wilson case holder to move it far enough to tighten up the case mouth end. It's a straight taper and no shoulder to prevent case lengthening, so trimming should eventually be necessary. What process (equipment) is used to hold the case firmly to get an accurate trim.

I have the only case holder that Wilson list for the 32-40. And it lists several cartridges that use the same holder. I have an inquiry in to Wilson concerning this problem. My fired cases do not fit well either. But I have a tight chamber on my two rifles.

I have used a Forster trimmer for close to sixty years, and it has served me well. I have and use the Wison also, but found the Forster less expensive to get set up with, especially if you shoot as many standard, non standard, and wildcats as I do. You only need the tool, a collet for each rim size and correct mandrel to fit the neck size. I mounted most portable tools on 1/2 inch aluminum plate that i can mount in a large bench vice for use.

I just purchased a Forster case trimmer on ebay and ordered the matching collet and pilot from Forster. I can dress the pilot to fit easily with a stone or wet or dry sandpaper. So, problem solved.

I've used a Lyman case trimmer with universal shell holder for decades. I really like not having to keep changing shell holders for each cartridge I am trimming.
I spin larger pilots in my drill press and use files or sandpaper to make them the size I need.

In the same vein, I've used the Wilson system for nearly 4 decades. Case holders are stored in a compartmented plastic case. No reason other than I bought a used one at a gun show with one or two holders and I liked it and ran with it. I use it for additional chores such as reaming primer pockets too. I'm on my third cutter head now, or is it my fourth? I jerry-rigged a hold down system for the case holders, similar to a V-block hold-down.
