How to clean a bullet mould

I find that some old molds (ideal) develop some light rust when not used for awhile. I know it’s humidity but I don’t live in the Sahara 😂

If it isn't bad I use some 0000 steel wool and oil. Not to bear down but lightly wipe the rust away.

I use chore boy pure copper pads and alcohol for rust. I have seen molds ruined from over exertion with even oooo steel wool.
Cast iron is very soft and if you try to clean the cavity with steel wool even a little rubbing will change the dimensions potentially affecting accuracy.

Any oils used inside a mold need to be really well cleaned or you'll fight getting good bullets until they are cleaned. I spray brake clean to wash out my mold blocks if anything oily gets inside them.
As for cleaning inside I use a coarse cloth and some alcohol, nothing more than that. I keep my milk crate full of molds inside a closet in the house where they stay room temperature all the time.

One of the things I do is to use a pencil, you can scrape the chamber of a mold with a pencil lead without harming it.

'Clean' a bullet mold?

Strap it to a target frame and hit it with 20 consecutive
shots ...
