Dave Crossno Hepburn rifle

I purchased a Hepburn rifle that was either built by the late Dave Crossno or at least built using one of his actions. It's showing serial number 22. It is currently sporting a .22 caliber 28 inch Douglas barrel with a 1-14 twist. From what I've been told the gun may have been originally a .40-65? If anyone previously owned this or knows anything about it I'd love to know more about its history.

Beautiful rifle.  I’m taking that it is a custom built modern action
? Like a Hepburn version of a CPA Stevens?

Never heard of Dave making his own Hepburn actions? Maybe he got it from Dan Zimmerman a DZ Arms Hepburn action? And maybe it's a DZ built Hepburn?
Might contact Mike Basset near Guthrie, Ok. who bought most of Dave's shop and worked for Dave. He might have some input.

I actually bought it from Mike Bassett. It's definitely a Crossno action as it is stamped D. Crossno  Dibble, OK.  It's serial number 22.
I found the original owner on here and have been in contact with him to obtain some of its history.

Very nice rifle. Nice to be able to get the history on a purchase.

Did Mike tell you if Dave got his actions from Dan Zimmerman of DZ Arms? I'm guessing Dave did, and didn't make his own actions.

It’s very interesting, going back to the mid-90’s, Oklahoma was home to several builders of reproduction Hepburns; Dave Crossno, Jim Hamilton, and Oklahoma Territory Arms. I still shoot serial number 7 that Dave made for me when he lived in Dibble, before moving to Arcadia.

Dave had his casting sets made in the mid-90’s. This is well before Dan started making his actions, which are machined. I bought my first Hepburn from Dave in 1998.

Val, I believe Mike still has several of Dave’s casting sets.

Believe Rodney Storey (sp?) in Chickasha, OK also made several.
