Talked to friend today who had a rolling block in 58 musket. I am going to make him a neck sizing die from a blank I have but don't know how to size it. I am going to need a bullet diameter to know how to size the die. Anyone shoot the 58 musket or know of the bullet diameter? Also how much interference fit would be needed to "hold" the bullet? Grateful for any help...

I have an 1867 remington rolling block transition musket, making brass out of 577 snider and 24 ga brass shells. My chamber cast shows bullet dia of .582 dia

I have one too and have shot it quite a bit. These Transition rifles were made for at least 3 different length .58 cartridges. So a chamber cast or measurement is a must. Mine is in .58 Roberts. I played around with many different bullets. It shot best with groove size minie balls. I had a Lyman minie mold opened up to .594".

thanks for that video, Steve. I hadn't seen that one, and liked it- seeing your hair and the sight leaf flippping upon recoil is pretty nifty.
