Somewhere in Bavaria.

About fifteen years or so ago. If I remember correctly, This range was in a typical neighborhood and the range looked like an ordinary house out front. When you went in it looked  like a house a family would live in. When you went to the back of the house it changed dramatically. There was a kitchen and the range and cocktail lounge. I met a very nice old couple there. The husband whose name was Otto told me he had problems with his frau and asked me if I had trouble with mine. I responded that oh yes, I had trouble with all of them. He just stood there looking at me with his mouth open. He was a real crack up, that old Otto. It was the most informal and unlikely match that I had the most fun at.  This was the first place I heard Bavarians exchanging the term "service". Sounds more like (sevis). Well maybe I had one to many Schnapps, who could tell....

As you can see, there are four scorers for eight shooters and at least one scorer has a beer there to quench his thirst. Something unlikely to see here in America.

What was the shooter to target distance?  I thought they might be zimmers until I saw the bullet box under the bench.

Wonderful setup.

Cannot remember the distance. Most likely not over 100 meters.
I love the honor targets plastered all over the place. And the stickers on the rifles.

This from Biggi Hoelscher.

"Laufen an der Salzach"

"Its a 130 meters range, very classical with writers. Okay, the writer can drink beer at his post, no problem."

Joe, what is it that they use for markers in the hung targets?

And how are the scores able to see the holes w/o a scope?

This from Biggi.

You can inform the guys in the forum from feuerbixler-Biggi:

Outside at the targets there is a scorer below in the pit.
He checks where the shooter hit the 10-ring-target.
For communication with writer and shooter, he hooks a paddle into a vertical grid.
The grid has five fields.
The scorer hooks the paddle with the yellow side in the grid for ring 1 up to 5.
The scorer hooks the paddle with the red side in the grid for ring 6 up to 10.
The red flag shows the writer, that the shooter hit a nice bull.
The papercard-bull will be released from the "10"  and the shooter's number will be noted on the back.
After the match, all nice bulls will be brought in to the schutzenmeister. He measures the quality of the bull.
Thats easy doing and is done in this way for centuries in Germany.

See attached pic.

This also from Biggi.

Oh, the guy asked also about the markings on the targets.

Here my explanation:

The scorekeeper in the pit has a hammer and pegs, which he hammers into the shot holes.
The pegs have numbers that belong to the shooter numbers.
This makes it easy to score a honor target, even if 100 shooters take part in the competition.

See picture.

That explains those targets hanging on the roof of the shooter's building. I was wondering what those pegs were hanging out of them.

Took me awhile to figure out what was on the ceiling and walls. I think those are some of the neatest targets I have ever seen. Thanks

We did the peg in the honor target thing at Butte one year.
Thinking ahead I made a whole bag of pegs in different sizes from 32 to 45. Came off fine and it was fun to do. In Bavaria they can only use one caliber so only need one size peg.
