Pan lube with SPG. Tumble lube with a tiny bit of Rooster Jacket over that if you want a less messy bullet.

I also pan lube heel bullets ,works perfectly.

Well I guess I'm doing things the right way then. My last batch I loaded I wiped the loaded rounds bullets on a block of spg and today I got to test them at 200 meters. Off bags I was able to keep all most all my shots in a 6" circle and was very impressed by this little round and rifle combination. Now I just need to clean the bore and check for leading. The cronograph said I was averaging 961 fps for my load of 3.5grs of unique.

Ballards may be weaker,

Ya I was really surprised. l set the rear sight for 200 and let 1 go my spotter and I were both kinda shocked he saw the hit and about 3 seconds later we heard a ding from down range out of 15 shots 12 were in the circle. The next test was a chicken silhouette at the same distance. It took several trys but I finally hit it and it slowly flopped over. I have a new respect for this little combination.

I think long ago there was a Ross Setfried article somewhere about testing the .310 cadet BSA rifles at 500 or 600, with success...

Well done.
Cool Cool
Shhhh it’s one of our best kept secrets.
Mine excell at about that speed.

Most people want 1500 fps with hard cast painted with pretty nail polish for lube and wonder why it don’t work.

I was trying to get about 1200 fps but I'm using softer lead with  sharp rifling so between the throat and the rear sight the bore was leading up pretty good. Thats why I cut a full grain of the powder charge. What surprises me is that the sights are correct at there distance setting even though the bullet is slower than the original factory loading.

Many people today are under the impression that heel bulletd are not accurate.  No doubt there is a learning curve. But with the right bullet and load. They can shoot very well. This is one of my .32 extra long #2 rolling blocks using a CF breech block. .32 Ballard extra long is the CF equivalent of .32 extra long rimfire.

BTW, for those on facebook. I run a private group called "Obsolete rimfire and heel bullet talk". We discuss the guns, making rimfire ammunition and shooting them. We have iver 700 members and a ton of great information is available.
