He is baffled by reloading books that give different loads for the two powders.
I've posted on this before but, back when they were sold by different company's (Win/Olin vs Hodgdon), The only difference between H110 and Win 296, was that Olin, made it and when sold as 296, it was "Closed Bomb" test by them, before packaging and selling it.
Hodgdon bought it in bulk, w/o closed bomb testing and sold it as H110. It varied in loading data, because of that. Once Hodgdon got the rights to it, they sell it under different names but, it's the same powder, that's why in all later Hodgdon, it has the exact same pressure and velocity.
I do not know, now that Hodgdon has the rights to it, if Hodgdon close bomb tests it before selling it.
In a strong rifle, you can shoot as much as 15.2 gr, with a 217 gr PB, BSed bullet and get excellent accuracy. I have shot 16.2 gr, with a 187 gr BSed bullet and 1/2" groups @ 100.
It's not primer sensitive either. I have shot 12.5 gr, 208 gr bullet, using F150 pistol primers and got 2.5 SD and 6 fps ES.
