22 WCF projectiles

Does any one have drawings/dimensions for this cartridge, especially the projectile, will need to get a mould cut. From what I can see a .22 Hornet case (slightly shortened) will fire form to cope with the larger .228" projectile. I have some old Russian .22lr ammo that measures .230" but it is a bit "corroded" from the salt air where I live so I think it originally measured .228". Did the .22WCF come out before the 25/20SS or were they contemperaneous? thanks, david a.

Here is the drawing Pacific Tool did for me based on dimensions from Cartridge Conversions.    I haven't seen the reamer yet, still somewhere in production.  I relined a shot out barrel with a TJ's .226 liner.    Hope the drawing helps

The .25-20SS predates the .22WCF by a few years. The .22WCF was one of the first cartridges offered in the Model 1885 Winchester in 1885.

I recently found an old Ideal bullet mold for the .22WCF and other old .22 centerfires that used the larger .228" bullets. I have a Pope barreled Ballard in .22WCF and haven't been able to shoot it before as I couldn't find bullets or a mold, and I didn't want to buy a new mold as I wanted an old original to go with the cased set.

I'm shooting a 47 grain bullet that casts .277 out of an NOE mold. I've only used Unique. I'm shooting it in a Hepburn. Fun to shoot at 100 yds.

The NOE mold number is 228-48-WFN-C 1. They list two in stock.

The NOE mold has one lube groove. I have wondered if that would be enough lube in a less than perfect 30 inch barrel. The bullets I am using in my Hepburn 22WCF which I think are cast from a Winchester mould have two grooves. I, too, settled on Unique.

Thank you all for your prompt responses, a great help, will look at the NOE mould, but at present most American gun "stuff" suppliers will not ship to Australia. hopefully after Donald Trump returns to the job this may change. Thank you all again,d.

In my quest to feed a couple .22WCF's and Savage .22 HiPower's over the years I enjoyed quite a bit of success using old Ideal .22 molds which had a marked tendency to drop oversize bullets suitable for use as-is without a trip through a sizing die. Not always, but often enough.
