Now that unique powder is no longer available for the foreseeable future if ever, I need to find a new load for my Stevens model 44 in 25-20SS. I have a good supply of Winchester 231.  Has anyone used 231 for the 25-20.  No need to reinvent the wheel if someone is already using 231.

My opinion as a long time time Bullseye competitor so take it or leave it.  From Bullseye or AA #2 to Win 231 is the first big Jump in speed. 231 is close to Unique without the versatility of Unique. Unique is  actually unlike other powders being its make up and shape. It’s a true double base nitroglycerine and nitrocellulose big flake powder that is actually close to being waterproof. Used to be pretty dirty burning but I think Allinant has changed the recipe. Anyway I don’t know of any other powder so versatile from shotgun to revolver to cast lead straight wall cartridges. Id give 231 a try as there are much more similarity than not
