Once upon a time I tried to collect an example of every Ideal/Lyman mould for 32-40 and the 32 S&W family, then there were those for the 45-70, and the 38, 44, and 45 pistols.  Then I discovered the boutique mould makers and oops, here came another dozen or so!  Shocked I’ve been slowing down in recent years.    Roll Eyes
I don’t knowingly collect any molds… and the only fungi I collect are mushrooms and bread yeast.  Cool

I'd have to count to be sure, but a little over half a milk crate. Not counting collectible molds like old Ideal, Pope, etc. I keep in secure storage.

I have never given it thought. The Harbor Fright/Pelican knock-off box they live in still has room for a few more (if they don't have handles). So, in the spirit of herd mentality, I counted them. There are 25. Can only think of two more I really need. Eventually I will get them. One for Dad's old Webley MVI that I had the throats honed on and one that properly fits the Stevens Pope.

I have almost enough.  I need a couple of custom ones and wouldn't mind tracking down another Hoch 322205 as a backup Smiley.

Actually the total number of molds I have is probably 40 or so and it won't likely get much higher.  I'll probably sell off a few here and there as I get others.

When I bought my CSA Model 74 in 2009, a good friend said...."welcome to the world of mold and rear sight collecting". I still have only the rear sight that I bought in 2009. But molds? He was closer to correct on that spculation!

An even 60 here. Maybe 10-15 of them actually get used regularly. I'm glad Jack started the thread, it forced me to take stock of my molds and create an inventory - and realize I'm in need of more.

In terms of streamlining, the jello molds went on eBay yesterday. My larger bullet molds will have to pull double duty now. Little fruit punch flavored Minie balls, anyone?

Chris,
I lucked out a year or so ago and picked up a brand new copy of that mould here on the forum. My first one is still going strong but does exhibit some minor base fining at times. I am not ready to retire it yet.  I will put a note on the new one so my kids can contact you if I kick the bucket before I unbox it. Oh wait, they won’t be able to mail it to Canada due to the postal strike

Just picked up another mold a couple days ago! .32-40 caliber to go with the .28 Special I already had.

The .28 mold, which has some interesting gas venting.

That's some interesting venting Val!

I have some Zischang molds that came with my highwall and they have similar venting in the block cavity.  On the sprue plate there is a vent, not too dissimilar to what Steve Brooks re-invented some time ago.

I don't know how functional that venting is on the top of the mold blocks on that 28 cal mold, but it looks pretty neat.

Thanks Chris.
Both molds are HM Pope, but the .28 is much earlier than the .32-40, and guessing he decided all that hand work wasn't needed later?
