I have a RB target rifle I would much appreciate a reasonably accurate guess on the chambering. The barrel is new, eight lands and grooves. The chamber cast shows a case that is pretty close to a 38-40, but the bore is smaller than the app. .40 caliber of the 38-40. The eight lands and grooves are app. .349 and .356. Of course, much smaller than 38-40. Comments?

Have you measured the rim diameter at least? Maybe a .38 Long or .38 Extra Long?
