Trace Scope Repairs are selling Harvey Trace's estate Ballard .40-65 HighWall rifle. The barrel is 1.1" across the flats in the middle. It tapers slightly from breech to muzzle. A single flat is about 0.450" wide, octagonal shape. There is an MVA 6x brass scope with it - I didn't take any photos, but new in the box, MVA Soule sight. Comes with a whole bunch of loaded ammo and brass, cast bullets, 2 bullet molds with handles, Redding die set.

A curiosity question only, since I know I can’t afford it at this point in time. How much?

You need to contact Trace Scope Repairs to obtain the price.

Yes it is an expensive custom made high quality rifle.

Being a friend of Harvey's since 1975 the price to me may not be the same provided to others.

It looks like a Browning because they are both high walls.  But this is not a Browning; at a glance, you can tell by the action screws.

I emailed the Woman listed above but have received no reply. Not sure the addresses where/are complete? Not familiar with Canadian email addresses.
Very interested but, yes it would be nice if the mystery would unfold…………”Friend” price compared to “Stranger” price?!?
Also, never knew MVA made a brass scope.

How much red tape ensnarls the transfer of a gun from Canada to the States these days? Cost of cutting through same?

Instead of using a FFL holder to do the transfer you use an International FFL holder to do the transfer.

Here is the reply I received from the company.

Thanks for your interest. I apologize for the delayed response. The package includes one Winchester 1885 Hi-Wall, reproduction by Ballard Rifle Company, Cody, Wyoming. Presentation wood, colour case hardened with 90-95% colours very good. Overall 90-95% NRA condition. 40-65 caliber, 30" full octagonal barrel measuring 1.130" across the flats at the breech, 1.035" at the muzzle. Comes with long range tang sight with windage adjustment, bubble level on front sight and standard barrel blocks on the barrel for scope mounting. Also included are 404 pieces of fired Starline brass (133 of which are loaded), 29 pieces of reformed 45-70 brass, Redding 3-die set with shell holder, Saeco bullet molds #640 (370gr), #740 (410gr) both plain base-RN and 1 set of Saeco handles. I am asking $4000 for all, shipping included in Canada.

There should be no problems.  I am a Canadian and use a company called Borderview International Firearm Logistics.  They can deal with the paperwork and shipping for firearms in both directions across the border.  The only hard part is the fees Smiley
