DST, weight, and the scope could have gotten the gun banned from many matches in the early days.

Interesting observation so while on the subject of rifle features that could/would possibly be banned in matches I am curious about triggers. So we're double set triggers generally banned and if so what about single set triggers ?

Ballards may be weaker,

For both Long-Range and Mid-Range matches there were rules stating only single no set triggers with a 3 lb. pull weight were allowed. Weight of the guns, and barrel length were also restricted. If I recall correctly it was 10 lbs. rifle weight, and 34" maximum barrel length.
I don't know about other types of shooting, but from what I've seen of factory Scheutzen rifles, and customs, I'd say there were no restrictions on weight, triggers, or barrel length.
