Not to nit pick a truly great rifle, but I would hazard a guess the tang sight is not original to the rifle. I really like the deep relief engraving. Please take some close ups of the action.
Thanks Mike

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

One of the prettiest, and most elaborately engraved Aydt rifles I've ever seen.

I just looked up his family's former digs. A nice little Bavarian hilltop castle - probably not more than 800 rooms or so. Looks to be 40 or so miles west of Saltzburg just north of the Austrian border. (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)
Probably had a 200 meter shooting range in the basement;-) Says it is a half hour's walk (uphill?) from the parking lot to the entrance next time you are over that way.

So Baron was shooting my gun in his basement? Hot Damn! Just gets better and better!

I have on some authority that my gun at the poster was on the Single Shot Magazine cover. I may be off, my hearing is not so good, but are the magazines are archived? The copywrite date on the poster seems to be 2008.

It is always amazing the history some of these guns have.

I think just straight on close up pictures of all four sides, with just the frame.

I would also like to see the markings, on the barrel, under the forearm.
