	Anyone know of a source for blank loading dies? I am sure this has been asked before but I couldn't find reference of it. I tried one out of 1018 material but it didn't go too well. JMH

	Pacific tool and gage and RCBS used to. RCBS was bought by Hodgdon so that may have changed.

	For some years, I have been making loading dies out of aluminum. Turns nicely, and since the aluminum is softer than brass , the dies don’t even have to be polished to work fine. Give it a try! CHRIS

	You can also check with Brownell's. IIRC, they used to handle Forster blank dies. Bob

	You can buy high strength 7/8-14 bolts in various lengths from McMaster Carr and then bore and ream them to whatever you want. About $6-$7 a piece for ones long enough for a die.

	Grade 5 bolts seem to cut nicely and wear well. Chuck

	I'm surprised that no one has suggested threaded rod. That's what I have used. You can make at least 9 dies with a 3 ft piece. It's a lot more expensive but, you can also get it in 4140 and quench harden it after your done. Check Ebay. I found grade 2 for $30 shipped and 4140 for about $100 shipped. It wouldn't let me add the links, for some reason.

	Try also Newlon Precision, they make both neck bushing and standard blank dies in different calibers.

At least bolts can be selected in numerous grades, and with full threads, or partial threads and smooth shanks to give options. And unless you're building a lot of dies you might never use up a 3' length of all thread.

	I bought mine at CH4D Tool and Die. They have the sizing and seating stems also. 740 397-7214

	I picked up the Aluminum die tip from Chris years ago. It worked very well, easy to machine & not expensive. Have several diameters on hand for quick die jobs of any kind, not just cartridges , that need special dims. Had the idea I would send one that proved to be long run useful to CH 4D to duplicate. Aluminum wears well most uses never did it. Boats

	I've made some customs. Used 416 SS and had the blanks vacuum hardened. Machines beautifully at about 45 RC. If I were gonna make blanks, I'd probably turn the major on the thread a 64th under ... 55/64? ... for a true reference to stuff in a 5C collet.
