Mystery Mould

Another eBay find that is showing promise in my 16 twist heavy barrel 32-40 high wall.  Saeco blocks with no markings at all.  Very well done and drops bullets easily.  Any ideas on who might have cut this?

I have a .35 Saeco mold that was recut or custom made. Soon as I saw the cavity Barry Darr came to mind. Extremely well done but is straight so no use to me.

I have two Ron Long molds that look just like that cavity, a .38 and a .32. Yours does not look like a Darr bullet.

That bullet looks a lot like the ones from my Zischang molds, but my they are basically non-tapered ( 0.001" difference from front to back ), and maybe slightly smaller lube grooves.

Wow Chris,
So somebody send a set of Saeco Mould blocks back in time (see Mr Paebody's Way Back machine) and asked A. O. Zischang to cut a tapered version of his bullet and probably hide the mould in a safe place until recently.  That has to make this mould worth thousands!  Sounds plausible to me Smiley

Thanks.

Jack

It would be worth thousands if it shoots little bug-sized groups, but if it doesn't it will explain why the owner hid it away. If Zischang couldn't make it work, nobody can. Roll Eyes

Dang Pat,

That makes it up to me to prove that it will shoot and clear Mr Zischang's name.

Ha, that made me laugh.  A nice way to start the morning Smiley.   It looks like a good mold.

I have 4 32-40s and a 32 Miller short I can try it in.  I will report back once I do some more testing.

Ron Long was an admirer of Zischang. Don't think Ron ever did a manure shovel handled palm rest however.
