Good evening folks, I recently picked up a beautiful little shoots and stocked low wall with the barrel marked 8x43. Have any of you run into this caliber before? Bore diameter is approximately 0.31 and I will be doing my first ever chamber cast shortly. Any thoughts?

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

Does this 1885 happen to have European, or British proof marks on the barrel?

Anyone else see shot in the see through plastic shell? Me thinks a chamber cast as mentioned is in order-especially the first inch or two of the bore.

It's does seem to have shot in it. Could it be a little smooth bore?

Could it be?

If your rifle is not in 7.62 and you can't hit what you are aiming at with de-linked machinegun ammo you are a pretender.

Thanks a lot for the replies. It does not have any proof marks on the barrel . Just the gun makers name h. C. L u f t.
I did a chamber cast and it has the same rim diameter as a 32- 20 at .408
It is a straight taper approximately 1.7 inches long. Groove diameter is .321
