Anyone with experience/opinion on coloring a blade front sight? Improvement?
Best color etc?

I think it all depends on: (a) the target (or game/woods) and (b) the general lighting conditions you'll encounter.

For targets, I like flat black.  For deer in low light in dark green fir thickets, I find a white bead on a black post works well (or a low-power scope is even better).

Tell us more about your application...

I sometimes put a tiny dot of orange on the tip of my front sight. If I hunt the bottoms the light goes pretty quickly.

Thanks for the replies.
Not hunting.
In one case .22 BPCR. Tiny black targets.
In the other 200 meter ram bash. Life sized painted white.

For tiny black targets adjust your aim to a 6 O'clock hold. You can easily do the same on Rams. Much more precise than a center hold.

Competitive pistol shooter since 1968. 20 year's military service. Black absolutely. Nobody encounters the variety of target conditions the GI does. Black. 'Nuff said. Old Soldier is right about 6-o'clock holds, too.
