Vall,
Can a patch cut from that be used more than once?  Seems pricey for a 6”x9” cloth.

Thanks

Not really. You can flip the patch over and continue to use it. The price is retail there, and I find it at Cabelas for $6. Also have the same thing made by Kleenbore at 10"x10" and $6.
Considering patches are rarely more than 1" square that I cut it works out to $.06 cents each. And I only use it to remove lead, or polish bores, and not for general cleaning.
I also don't double it up to make it tighter. I cut up rags to put under it if it needs to be tighter. When it's pushed through a bore you see shards of lead shaped like the rifling when it exits the bore. I flip it over and push it through again, and usually all the leading is gone. Occasionally bad leading might take two patches.
I have a.44-77BN Roller I planned to have lined, but after a good cleaning with Leadaway patches it came out nice enough to shoot well.

Got a great wife, she just has a sensitive nose. How great is she? She generally gives me another rifle for my birthday and each time she says this is the last one, I mean it this time. I just smile.

Have been using this for a while in my BP guns and yes it seems to work. If you leave it in longer than you meant to, it does give the appearance of rust coming out (brown stain on the patch). A bore scope has shown no evidence of any pitting ar bore damage.

Have used their Eliminator product to resurrect a nice old 1896 Transvaal Mauser 7x57 bbl that had the appearance of a sewer pipe.

Can only say yes it works and is worthwhile having in the gun room.

At one of our monthly collector gun shows last year a guy brought in a bunch of NOS gunsmith cleaning supplies to sell. I immediately spotted old bottles of Hoppe's #9 as they were all the small bottles and still in the little colored boxes they came in new! He had 8 of them priced at a dollar each and I grabbed all 8 bottles.

I do that with both Hoppes and the old school GI bore cleaner from the 50s. Takes ten years off.

For BP/lead fouling I am just using very hot soapy water. I clamp the rifle in a Lothar Walther rifle vise with the muzzle in the bucket resting on the bottom. A good, tight patch and a few strokes does a great job for me. I then push a few dry parches through and while the barrel is still hot I oil the inside and outside.

Cleaning takes just a few minutes, takes longer to set-up the bucket and the vise. Virtually no odors Wink

If your rifle is not in 7.62 and you can't hit what you are aiming at with de-linked machinegun ammo you are a pretender.

SchwarzStock - Just cleaned my Borchardt in .50-90 SS last night with the Dawn in HOT water method - like you showed... works great! Was it's maiden voyage out to the field for testing. Now onto profiling the barrel and adding sights....

Just because I used my 50-90 for the photo did not mean you had to Wink

Well,if you believe hot soapy water will remove lead, you'll be disappointed.

Martini - I ran some Shooter's Choice through it right after for several reasons, but the hot Dawn water got rid of the BP fouling mess in short order and was easy enough to do.
Cheers!
