Well darn, don't have this problem with rollers Grin

If your rifle is not in 7.62 and you can't hit what you are aiming at with de-linked machinegun ammo you are a pretender.

I'd like to hear more or see a pic of the drill rod fix for broken firing pin. If someone could post a pic or a description of how its done would be great. Thanks

Beauty is still in the eye of the beholder! I'll take a Roller over a Sharps any day.

I Agree with Vall , I have had them all  I would say a roller is more period correct as many were war surplus in bison hunting times. Out of pure sexy I would say Ballard trumps all.

I just like the solid feel of a Roller, and the simplicity of these actions. And unlike a Sharps you can't load or unload and break anything. Plus the actions are all steel on steel, and don't rely on wood inletting to set clearances like a Sharps. Not a fan of the big sidehammers either, although that's something many Sharps fans enjoy about them.
Just my .02 cents worth.

I am quite fond of the big hammer on a conversion Sharps. Had Rich McKinney convert a Shiloh 1963 for me once but let it get away....

Great. I think they look archaic, and have slower lock times than smaller lighter hammers.

It's sad the Borchardt design arrived too late to save the Sharps rifle co. It's a wonderful design, and a huge step forward for Sharps. Had it arrived shortly after the 1874 it could have made a big difference in Sharps survival.

Interesting. I have owned a 7mm Remington RB and currently have a S Sharps and an 1885 HW Winchester  in 45-60, made in 1886.
A coyote was kilt with it. Soon to get an original 1878 Sharps Borchardt military rifle 45 2.1...original with 32 in barrel.

So far, the Winchester 1885 is still at the top of the list, and rare in that caliber.

Some historians of firearms lke De Haas state that the Sharps Company problem was partially due to reception of the Borchardt design. The old timers of the period preferred external hammers of the 1874-1875/77 Sharps. The 1878
Hugo Borchardt safety behind the trigger also did not please prospective buyers. Even the later 1885 Winchester had both an external hammer and traditional half -cock safety.
